About

Welcome

My name is Carrie. I live in Varsseveld in the east of the Netherlands with my husband, our two sons and two dogs.

Movement and the workings of the mind have always fascinated me. My yoga practice started when I was about 16. I started teaching in 2006. My first teacher training was the Centered Yoga Teacher Training with Dona Holleman in Italy. I did my yoga therapy training with The Sonia Sumar Method – Yoga for All Abilities®.

Over the years I’ve continued to study with inspiring teachers like Donna Farhi, The art of teaching and intensives. And Lisa Petersen, the Living Yoga Somatic Exercise Coach (SEC) training in Dublin, retreats and immersions.

Another important part of my work and daily life is meditation. I trained as an iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation level 1 teacher. Here I first discovered the gentle power of co-meditation. That experience moved me to explore further, leading me to train in The Healing Dialogue with Anne Douglas. Recently I trained in Yoga for Menopause and Beyond with Yinstinct by Niamh Daly.

I also hold a Master’s in Applied Communication Science and have worked as a social worker in various care institutions. I’ve specialized in Autism through trainings with Growing Minds and Huis Helder and am currently expanding my knowledge of Polyvagal Theory through the work of Deb Dana and Dr. Arielle Schwartz.

My fascination for the connection between body and mind finds full expression in the combination of the healing dialogue, somatics and yoga. They are all about connection—connecting with your body, your breath, your emotions, your thoughts, yourself, and others. These aspects are all part of one whole, constantly influencing each other. The way you move directly affects how you feel. The way you think directly impacts your body—and so on.

From this interconnected view I guide and support people by choosing the approach that best fits the individual person. My intention is to help people discover that they are, at their core, whole and okay—just as they are—and that they can influence all aspects of their experience.

My approach to teaching and counseling is always evolving, shaped by ongoing study, embodied practice, and both personal and shared inquiry. I’m a lifelong learner and draw inspiration from every training I attend and the books I read. Weaving what resonates with me into my own way of working

I approach counseling and teaching from a place of curiosity, care and when appropriate a certain lightness / playfulness—always tuning in to what feels right, what’s needed, and what works. It’s about working with your body and mind with compassion and kindness.
